IPTV buffering: what to check before blaming the stream

Buffering can come from the home network, the device, the app or the stream itself. A useful diagnosis changes one variable at a time.

Test the connection at the viewing device

A speed test beside the router does not prove the television has the same connection quality. Test near the device you actually use and look for unstable results as well as raw speed.

Compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet

If possible, temporarily connect by Ethernet. If the problem disappears, the likely issue is Wi-Fi coverage, interference or congestion rather than the subscription itself.

Restart the simplest parts first

Close the app, restart the device and reboot networking equipment if appropriate. This clears temporary memory, stale connections and some local network problems without changing your account.

Collect useful details for support

Note the device, app, connection type, affected channel or content and whether the problem happens everywhere or only on one item. That makes a WhatsApp support conversation far more useful.
